Hi there ! I’m Maya.
I’m a psychologist, a differentialist and a chatterbox. I also write a lot, when I have time. Last season, I wrote House reviews from a Huddy (House/Cuddy) perspective and they were … uh… long! And quite full of faithful passion for the show… But that’s because if you start me on something I like, I’m usually quite garrulous. Anyway, I’m up for a change now, so combine all that with my interest in some other very specific aspects of TV nowadays and you have what this blog will be about, which is RELATIONSHIPS!
Thus, you can consider that in this blog spot, I have just opened a virtual ‘shrink’ consult: Maya’s TV couples counseling!
My main focus (because, let’s face it, it’s also my main obsession) will be on the House/Cuddy couple. They’ve gone through six seasons of cat-and-mouse games, unconsciously pining for each other; and now it’s DONE! They’re together! For real. And if you don’t know that already, it’s either a) because you don’t have a TV or b) because until now, and specifically during the last two months, you’ve been trapped in a cave, far away from civilization. So welcome back! And yeah, I can confirm: brave David Shore – creator and executive producer of the show – just dared cross that line: he made House and Cuddy a couple.
So now, after a particularly gloomy and dramatic sixth season, I think it’s fair to say we’re most likely heading towards a lot more overall fun. Although, Hugh Laurie just recently warned us to buckle up – in an interview with Entertainment Weekly – which means we can expect to be in for quite a wild rollercoaster ride, but I say BRING IT ON!!
However, apart from Dr. Cranky Pants and Dr. Narcissist Control Freak – best known as House and Cuddy – it’s also very possible that once in a while, I will set my focus on some other TV couples. And with the almost sacred code of NEVER EVER DARE TO GET THEM TOGETHER, in the name of the “will they-won’t they” Goddess, I’d say we’re not about to run out of examples to illustrate the urge of TV couples counseling just yet, are we?
I don’t watch every TV show of course, so maybe I will never ‘counsel’ the ones you love, and I’m sorry. However, I will try to be as eclectic as I can. Poking an eye, here and there, to maybe, who knows? Allison and Sam, or Pete and Violet (Private Practice); or Booth and Brennan (Bones); or Lightman and Foster (Lie To Me); or Moody and whoever suits his appetite… (Californication); and some more, if I get inspired or hear a buzz about a specific pairing at a given time.
Anyway, what I’m going to do is mostly pretend that famous TV couples are going to consult me, you know, like Booth and Brennan consults Lance Sweets? The goal, of course, while having fun, and under the pretext of faking a couples counseling consult, will be to “diagnose” the relationship. Where is it heading? Is it strong? Is it heading towards a crash? What are the problems? And IF or WHEN it’s possible, prescribe a solution, through FICTIONAL shrink advice.
Now, are you in with me?
I’ll start this on a regular/weekly basis in September, with the seventh season of House, but during the summer, I am most definitely going to try to post some of my random thoughts on TV couples, as they come.
So stay tuned!
Totally excited for the sessions! Maya is an awesome writer!

Sounds fun! I hope you did watch the X-Files, cause that was the most torturous “will they-won’t they” couple with the best chemistry ever! Just a tip ;P
